This week, one of the many events I attended and photographed was a small music festival called Groove Jam at a place called the Doodad Farm. Prior to attending the festival, I had never heard of the farm and was unfamiliar with the location. Luckily for me, the main part of the farm was located in the woods which allowed me to get some very nice photos with light shining in between the trees. I ended up choosing this specific location because after arriving there and taking a few photos, I found that I liked the effect that the lighting had on the overall vibe of the event and my photos. I also ended up going to 5 different events that day with the Groove Jam being the second and I chose the time that I went there specifically so that I could spend the remainder of the day in downtown photographing other events. There is a part of me that wishes I had arrived later because the time at which I was there was around 1pm which unfortunately led to some harsh light in a lot of my photos. I did not position my subjects specifically to match the light as for most of my photos they were either moving around by themselves or doing something that stopped them from moving around. As mentioned before, I really like the effect that the tree light had on my photos and the event in general. In my opinion, it made my photos seem more fun and it gave some of my subjects a nice glow. Overall, I think next time I might stay a little longer or arrive a bit later on in the day. The event itself went on well into the night and I did consider coming back, however, I was tired after photographing so many events and decided to just go home instead.
